Without " Lovers Peynet Georges Brassens would, it seems, never wrote his song" The Lovers on public benches
Peynet (1916 - 1999) created his lover in 1942. He worked then for newspapers and magazines for which he produced illustrations. One day in Valencia, in the department of Drome, he must submit a confidential letter to a correspondent. The rendezvous point was a bench opposite the Bandstand (Historical Monument since 1982). There he devised a young violinist with long hair alone in the booth with a fan who listened to him play the violin ... "Lovers of Peynet were born! ... they went around the world: Illustration, dolls, statues (including one of Hisroshima) everything that symbolizes love. Four museums in the world are devoted to Peynet: Brassac Antibes and the Mines France, and Munazaka Karuizawa, Japan.
